Holiday Family Customs

During the holidays, it is customary that we have certain foods.
We must have turkey, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, dinner rolls and stuffing on Thanksgiving.
But that’s only at the main meal.
We have pumpkin pie and pecan pie at every Thanksgiving meal.
We also have whatever cake my sister chooses, since her birthday is so close to Thanksgiving, and sometimes, like this year, her birthday is even on Thanksgiving day.
After everyone is done eating, we play games, watch football and just relax with our food babies.

On Christmas Eve, we eat soup, while on Christmas day, we eat ham.
On Christmas Eve, we drive around to look at the different Christmas lights around town.
After we get home, we place out cookies and milk for Santa.
Then, we do as we please, but eventually, we are made to go downstairs or to bed when “Santa” gets tired.
When the first kid wakes up on Christmas Day, they go to wake up the rest of the kids in any means possible.
The first thing we open, is our Stockings, which were laid on the couch with care.
Then one or two of the kids hand out the present and we open them in any order we want.
After everyone’s presents are opened we go around the room and show off what we got.
Then we go to eat breakfast.
At breakfast, we eat grapefruit, cinnamon rolls and banana bread.
After that, we release the puppy who runs wild through the house.
I make sure that comet gets her presents too, even if I’m one of the only people that gets her presents.

Our day is then spent doing what we want like playing games and watching tv.
