Math Homework and More (A fun poem about a not-fun situation)

Math Homework and More (A fun poem about a not-fun situation)

Take a day and homework multiplies

Add in your hours at work

Subtract the hours you sleep

School, 7 hours times 5

Classes, 8 by 5 days

Allow me to ask you an equation

If a train of work is coming at 42 mph

And it decreases by one assignment a day

If I subtract a day

To how many minutes does the work add up?

15 minutes times 8 is two hours

I have not two hours to add to my day.

When will that train hit the wall?

The wall made of papers and papers past due?

To me I know not, the math is for you.

I have but twenty-four hours a day

School takes away eight

Take away sleep, there goes another seven

Now what to do?

I’ve got less now than eleven

9 hours to go, work takes away three

Only 6 hours, a couple I need free

4 hours to go, breakfast lunch and dinner

2 and a half hours won’t work

I need to try harder to make this thing work

I’ll add in some hours, somewhere, somehow

I’ll come out on top, and emerge as a winner.

But boy I should have done my math homework sooner

All together I made it through, but what a mess

Now all my other stuff, too, I guess

Subject Poem

I figure everyone has had uncomfortable moments in school

Even though in 10 years that embarrassment might not matter.

Trying to converse with people who have no filter,

Talking in front of class and being out of your element

And struggling to find the oxygen to breathe.

Balancing work, school, and sports at the same time.

Having no idea how to do any of your math equations

Sometimes you have to force yourself through the average day

Trying to combine friend grounds and finding they don’t mix well

Bad times only make up a small percentage of school

But you just might not have the energy required that day

It’s all about the next day’s potential to be better

Sushi Date

One night Camden, his little brother Casen, and I decided to go out for sushi. Camden and I equally decided it would be the best thing to eat for supper. When we got there they sat us in the booth area. His little brother doesn’t like sushi so we had to find sum other things he would like. We got him chicken and rice and Camen and I got the love boat. We all got lemonade to drink. The base of the cup was a circle. Casen was being mean because the chicken didn’t look like his mom’s. He then eventually started feeding me his food because he didn’t want to eat it. The amount of our check added up to almost one hundred dollars. Overall it was a positive night for the three of us. After dinner, we went and got ice cream then went home.

Ditch Night

One night the acute girl had a date planned with a perfect square boy

She looked like a model for the date

He seemed off all day so she was divided ongoing

She drove the whole way anyway

Once she got there the guy diverge from saying he was gonna hang with the boys

That boy was so mean to ditch the girl

The girl was infinite hurt from that night

Her heart shrank in size

She simplifies went home crying after that

That boy will get zero chances from that girl

At the sum of the night, she ended up feeling stronger

Now That's How You Win.

A real problem was developing and I could feel it in the pit of my stomach.

The combination of loud claps and roaring yells made for a sum of nerves forming among my team.

Though it wasn’t a high probability, I still couldn’t budge the thought of losing out of my mind.

A constant worry remained until our names were not called. Then, only positive feelings arose, washing away the negative ones.

Everyone was at the edge of their seat.

And when the name “Boone Central” was NOT called for 2nd place, tears burned down my cheeks and the corners of my mouth curled up instantly.

The odds of this happening never crossed my mind, but here we were showered in the feeling of victory.

Now that’s how you win.

Math Poem

Starting out on a flat plane of perfection, lays
Freshly cut circles of dough made in perfect symmetry.
Sketching out the visions of holidays,
Translating into family memories that are infinitely cherished,
Verifying each generation is a part of the equation.
Ingredients need to be multiplied,
And a little estimated measuring is always A-OK.
The absolute maximum is the part where someone needs to clean out the bowl (and by that, I mean eat the leftover dough)
Sugar cookie baking around the holidays is always rational.

When you combine all family members into one family function f(x), that, my friend, is priceless.
