The Little Girl in the Driveway

“Come on Lauren I have a game in 2 weeks, we need to hit the driveway.¨
Oh my did this little girl love her big brother.
There was nothing that girl loved more than Tyler, except for her jersey.
That jersey was Tyler's old football jersey.
She cherished that jersey.
Her mom couldn't cut that jersey off of her if she tried.
Everyday after school those two would spend hours in the driveway,
Bags put aside, balls flying everywhere, bruises, scrapes,
which would all would lead up to be great memories.
Just a little girl in a jersey with her big brother.
Shooting hoops, playing one on one, anything you could possibly imagine.
That little girl couldn't be happier.
They were two peas in a pod.
That little girl sat there in her jersey just begging for her brother's car to speed up the driveway
everyday at 5 o'clock.
But eventually the car stopped coming.
Tylers schedule got busier,
and events taking place in the driveway began to fade away.
¨ Lauren it's past your bedtime.¨
¨But mom, Tyler isn't home yet, he told me to wait for him.¨
The nights got longer and Tyler slowly seemed to disappear.
7 o'clock.
8 o'clock.
Lauren knew he'd always be able to play on Sundays but it just wasn't the same.
Game after game she went to.
Wow was she so proud of her brother.
Point after point, rebound after rebound, he must have learned it in the driveway.
She took the title of ¨Tyler's biggest fan.¨
Although she was proud of that title, she'd rather have another one.
She wanted to be on the court.
Those boys didn't play with Tyler in the driveway.
That was Lauren.
Tylers number one fan.
The little girl in the driveway.
