The lost sense

                                                                     The cars are honking

Strangers arguing

Gunshots of hunters in the woods behind my home

This one girl’s loud obnoxious voice that booms and echoes no matter the environment

The cringey sound of trays banging on the side of trash cans

My family's footsteps coming from upstairs waking me up

Crickets in my room keeping me from falling asleep at night

The sound of my phone going off and having to resist the temptation of picking it up

Oh all of the things I will never miss

For now my mind is in a silent state of bliss

However my baby cousins laughter is pure joy

The crack of the bat when my sister hits a home run sets in a sense of pride

My dogs nails happily doing a “tippy tap tippy tap” as he makes his way down to my room gives me a surge of excitement

The boys’ in my class have a united sense of humor and contagious happiness that I would miss dearly

The sound of birds frollicking and chirping under parked vehicles

And even the happy, soothing rattle or Mr. Sup’s keys swinging in the hallway

Oh all of the things I’d miss

Because sometimes the state of bliss, is even louder than the noise
