A Poem for my Dog

 You've just about done it

I'm just about through

Can't keep it together

I'm fed up with you

Your paws are so heavy

As you stand on my leg

You're clearly not hungry

And yet you still beg

With a wag of your tail

And a thump of your rear

You've ruined the plants

 Mom's been growing all year

You've gotta fuzz on your head

And fluff on your butt

You look like a pure-bred

But you act like a mutt

You're happy to see us

Guess how we know

That's inappropriate doggy

We don't want that show

It smells like a dog mouth

Two inches away

"Hah hah hah hah"

Is that all you can say?

The stream from your tongue

Is almost touching the ground

Close your mouth Wrigley

You drool like a hound

You've got burrs in your tail

And mud on your feet

If you jump on me again

I'll cry in defeat

Please I just fed you

This isn't your food

Now go eat your kibble

Don't leave it half chewed

You knock over your water

Right after I fill it

If your really are thirsty

Then why must you spill it

You stare through the door

As we're eating our meal

What do you want, dog

What is your deal

So sore and so painful

Your claws in my skin

Alright! I get it!

Stop! You win!

Way back when we got you

You were so tiny, so cute

But you're all grown up now

One big dumb galoot

You've ripped up my stuff

You've torn up my skin

You've driven me crazy

Again and again

So ask if I love you

I suppose so, but why

I guess it's because

You're my Wrigley guy
